A Report On The Energy Savings Of The EdenPURE Heater By Bryan Anderson PhD

Executive Brief:

During the winter of 2006 our company conducted an independent third party test of the EdenPURE heater. We concluded that using the heater in the facility where we tested it would reduce the cost of heating by 59%.

Background:

Our company is called United Energy Technologies LLC. One of our missions is to research, evaluate and test emerging technologies that can be used for reducing the cost of energy in homes and commercial buildings. Another mission is to find technologies that can be used to provide savings that are strong enough to use in homes and buildings where the goal is to qualify for tax benefits that are available from the federal and state governments to encourage a reduction in the use of energy. One of the criteria we use in evaluating technology is that the savings can be documented and verified so that it will qualify for tax benefits.

In pursuit of our goals we have evaluated a large number of energy technologies that hold the promise of saving energy in a cost effective manner. In our investigation we discovered the EdenPURE Heater and we were very impressed. The technology made sense, they had existing third party testing that showed major savings, and it had the benefit of not burning up the oxygen and not depleting the humidity which would provide for a more healthy heating environment.

We were working with a nursing home in Northern Utah and we recommended the heater to them. They responded by asking us to test the heater and agreed to cooperate with us in conducting the test.

Testing The Heater:

We were given two rooms that were the same size and were side by side. We closed off the ventilation in both rooms. I was assisted by a master electrician and by the building manager in setting up the test, in collecting the data, and in interpreting the results. We discussed the project with the local utility company and collected data from them.

We purchased two identical meters to monitor the amount of electricity being consumed in each room. We closed the blinds in each room and tried to make the rooms as identical as possible by eliminating all the variables other than having the existing heaters in one room and the EdenPURE heater in the other room. We assumed the weather conditions were the same since the test was conducted in the two rooms at the same time.

The Results Of The Test:

1. We concluded that there was a significant energy cost with the demand charge and that using the EdenPURE heater would reduce the demand charge by at least 70%. We calculated that this would provide a dollar savings on the energy bill of at least 15%.

2. According to the data on the meters, the EdenPURE heater reduced the consumption by at least 44%.

3. By combining the savings on the demand charge and on the consumption, we concluded that the EdenPURE heater would reduce the cost of heating by 59%.

Additional Benefits Of The Heater:

Later we talked with a consumer who had achieved more than 50% savings in his home by using the EdenPURE heater since the cost of gas had increased so much. Another logical area where the heater would have more than 50% savings would be in an all electric home where the cost of kilowatts was increased as the consumption increased and the home owner was faced with paying higher rates. In this case the Eden Pure heater would be reducing kilowatts at the higher rates and would be able to achieve savings on the energy bill of at least 50%.

We have read generally about the utility conditions in the United States and there are a wide variety of conditions. In some parts of the country the cost of kilowatts can be as low as four cents, and in others the cost can be over fifty cents. Some utilities are going all electric because the cost of oil is so high and the infrastructure to bring in gas is too costly. There are many places where the EdenPURE heater will provide major savings.

Another important factor is that the heater does not deplete the humidity in the air. This means that comfort levels are achieved with less heat which is an additional way these heaters will provide savings.

Conclusion:

Our conclusion is that this is a very high quality heater that can in many cases provide more than fifty percent savings on the utility bill and that it can be a very attractive investment for building owners and home owners.
